Mine Site Airstrip

West Coast Bitumen delivered a two-year maintenance contract for Iluka Resources, involving the resealing of the mine site airstrip and the rehabilitation of a 98km haul road. The project required significant logistical planning for remote delivery and minimal disruption to mine haulage.

Airstrip Works (66,613m²): Application of a 14/5mm S10E double coat seal, finished with a polymer-modified emulsion sand lock-down treatment for superior aggregate retention.

Haul Road Works (208,000m²): Extensive pothole patching and targeted full-treatment resealing using a 10mm S10E single coat seal across the 98km corridor.

Beyond physical works, we provided comprehensive maintenance scoping, defect reporting, and cost-benefit analysis for treatment alternatives. This collaborative approach allowed the client to maximise their budget while extending the operational lifespan of their critical transport infrastructure.
